1. General customisation tools
You may customise your store by adding a background image and a logo to the store. In addition to this you may include a store description, product description and images and your own terms and conditions.

Other customising options are not available at the moment. You may access all your online store settings by clicking the settings icon in your online store menu.

2. Creating new products

Available as a video tutorial: https://youtu.be/o9d-WfOkhnk?t=148

3. Creating and managing shipping fees

Start by accessing your store settings page. Scroll down a bit and you see a section where you can create different kinds of shipping fees. Each shipping fee you create consists of 4 different steps:

1. Shipping area

  • Domestic shipping
  • EU wide shipping (NOTE: includes also Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway)
  • Worldwide shipping

2. Price

3. VAT rate

4. Income category

You can create one shipping fee for each shipping area. A correct type of shipping fee is automatically added into the shopping cart once your customer has

  • selected a product that needs shipping
  • given their country during the store checkout.

Please note that if you specify shipping fees for one, but not all areas (e.g only domestic, but no worldwide shipping fees), then customers can only order products that need shipping to the areas that you specified a fee for.

Applying shipping fees into products

Once you have created your range of shipping fees options you can select which products you want to apply them to. You can do this by creating a new item and ticking the Shipping fees apply to this product box right under Quantity field in the item creation page. If you have already created some store items you can edit them and include a shipping fee.

Selecting that a shipping fee applies to an item will add a correct type of shipping fee (domestic, EU or worldwide) into the shopping cart whenever this item is present in the shopping cart. The product quantity does not matter.

4. Creating and managing discount codes

Available as a video tutorial: https://youtu.be/o9d-WfOkhnk?t=443.

Note that discount codes are always item based. Holvi does not yet offer basket based shipping codes.

How it works

  1. Give a name to the discount code (this will not be visible to customer)
  2. Create the actual code - the code must be between 6-20 characters long and special characters and letters such as Ä and Ö are not supported. You may use numbers and letters. For example: SUMMERSALE2017
  3. Define discount type - percentage / fixed price discount / replace the current price with a new one
  4. Define the percentage or amount that should be discounted
  5. You may define a minimum price that the shopping cart must have before this discount can be used - you may also define how many code uses you have available
  6. Select the products that this discount applies to

5. Creating and managing store item sections

Available as a video tutorial: https://youtu.be/o9d-WfOkhnk?t=398.

How it works

  1. Give a name to your item section
  2. Define whether you want to show the section in our front page or within a different section
  3. Pick the products you want to include into this section
  4. Save the ready item section.

  • eps Online-Überweisung

SOFORT Banking

SOFORT Banking (in Austria, Germany, Switzerland known as SOFORT Überweisung) is an online direct payment method which uses online banking systems established by banks and acts as an intermediate between an online shop and a consumer’s online banking account.

Consumers who select SOFORT Banking as payment method for an online purchase will be directed straight to the sofort.com payment form. All transfer data is handed over automatically so that the consumer only needs to log into his bank account using account number and PIN. After a successful login, a form will open on SOFORT Banking containing the transfer order for the customer’s bank. All the customer needs to do is authorize the transaction using a TAN (transaction authentication code). Any information is delivered to the customer´s bank in an encrypted form. Merchants receive confirmation of the transfer order in real time and may dispatch the goods instantly.

Please visit SOFORT Banking for further information and details.

Advantages for merchants

  • Confirmation of a payment made with SOFORT Banking is received in real-time.
  • No waiting time before the goods are to be delivered as it is the case with payments in advance, e.g. bank transfer.
  • Convenient for customers as they can use their usual online banking login details.
  • Virtually risk-free because customers may not reverse the payment (no chargeback).

Advantages for customers

  • No need to register or open a virtual account and no need to transfer money first to an account.
  • Fast delivery of goods because the merchant receives a confirmation of the transaction immediately.

eps Online-Überweisung

The online payment method eps Online-Überweisung is based on the technical standard eps (e-payment standard). Eps is an open and standardized XML interface between online-shops, E-Government, public institutions and banks which offer the eps interface to initiate irrevocable online payments. Eps Online-Überweisung allows customers to make online payments via their online banking applications.

Eps Online-Überweisung is offered by Austrian banks as a convenient and secure online payment method or e-payment in online shops or E-Government processes. Customers who select eps Online-Überweisung as payment method for an online purchase are directed to their online banking system. After a successful login, a form will open on eps Online-Überweisung containing the transfer order for the customer’s bank. All relevant details of the purchase such as amount, reason for payment, customer details and the transfer execution date are already filled in. All the customer needs to do is authorize the transaction, e.g. using a TAN (transaction authentication code). Once the transfer order is accepted by the customer´s bank, the merchant receives a confirmation and may dispatch the goods instantly.

Please visit eps Online-Überweisung for more information and details.

Advantages for merchants

  • Merchants receive a real-time eps payment confirmation message with the status of the underlying credit transfer issued by the customer´s bank.
  • Based on the received payment status and remittance identifier, goods or services may be delivered instantly.
  • High consumer potential, many buyers thanks to the familiarity of the online banking system.
  • Real time information during the processing.
  • Technical security to prevent fraud.

Advantages for customers

  • Customers may use their familiar, trusted and secure online banking system.
  • No additional registration or codes are required.
  • No additional costs will arise.

Integration information

To integrate and offer the payment method eps Online-Überweisung for your customers in your online shop, merchants have to conclude and sign the eps merchant contract; further information should be obtained directly from the merchant´s account holding bank.

11. Managing orders and purchases

Available as a video tutorial: https://youtu.be/o9d-WfOkhnk?t=784

Sold products, including customer contact details will be included into automatically generated Order Lists, that can be viewed and downloaded for example in Excel format. You can also include additional questions to products if you need to specify diets, sizes and other relevant information. Once a customer purchases a product from your store, Holvi will send the necessary order confirmation and attachments (for example tickets) automatically!

After the delivery you can mark the order as processed by clicking the order either from your Home view or through Online store > Orders > Mark as processed.

12. Selling digital products / downloadable content

For adding downloadable content to your online store, log in to your Holvi account, go to your online store and from there to items. Drop your file to Downloadable content at the bottom of the page. Save your changes after this.

The max. size for a downloadable content is 200MB. You may currently upload only 1 file and the supported files are audio files (MP3, WMA and OGG), e-books (PDF, EPUB and MOBI) image files (JPG, JPEG, TIF, PNG, SVG).

For the customer at the online store the item will be visible as a text saying Containing downloadable content. Upon purchasing the product Holvi will send the customer a receipt with the download link for the product, the link includes three downloads and expires in 6 months. After three times the link can't be used anymore for any downloads.

13. QR-codes

It's possible to send a receipt with a QR-code from the Holvi Online Store. Just make sure that you have tapped the box for Split individual product purchases into PDF's in receipt when creating/editing an item.

You will get the list of the QR-code numbers in the item's order list: Online store -> items -> choose the item in question -> orders -> open in excel.

Note! Holvi does not offer QR-code readers.

14. Make sure your business information is verified
Please note that you can't start selling before you have verified your personal and business information. So be sure to complete both before starting to market your store.

15. Embed your Holvi online store products into external websites using iFrame
Iframe is a neat tool that let's you embed your Holvi online store products also in other websites than your main store page. In essence, an iframe is another browser window set right inside your web page.

How it works

Currently you can embed individual store products in external pages by using the iframe. You can add as many products onto your pages as you wish but can't embed the whole store within one iframe.

To embed a store product copy the iframe code snippet from Holvi's online store product page and paste it to your web site. The code snippet can be found on the top of the product page, on the left side of the language switcher.

WordPress support only shortcoded versions of iframe. This means that you have to first download this WordPress tool to change your iframe code into an accepted format.

16. Store tracking tools
You are able to add Google Adwords, Google Analytics and Facebook pixel into your store so that you get customer traffic information. Please bear in mind that each of these tracking tools activate only in the receipt page, meaning that you will have information only from successful store purchases.

Please read Facebook's instructions for more information regarding Facebook pixels.

17. Is your Holvi store "under construction"?

If you see a red message in your Holvi online store that says that "This shop is still under construction so you cannot make purchases yet." it means that either your personal verification or the verification of your business or association is missing.

In order to fix this please check your verification status and complete the missing parts using the below links:

Personal verification: https://holvi.com/home/identity/

Business and association verification: https://holvi.com/home/identity/company-documents

18. Holvi international transactions: selling/invoicing within and outside EU

Before you start: Currently Holvi can only accept SEPA transfers. Only transactions in EUR (€) are possible. So if your client pays with a non EUR credit card in your Holvi web store, the amount is automatically debited in EUR and the card issuer may charge a conversion fee to your customer. If you have to make other payments into or out of your Holvi account in other currencies we recommend using Transferwise

Holvi and international sales

International customers can purchase items from your Holvi online store with a range of international credit cards.

If your plans include selling internationally, there are a few things to be aware of:

1. Selling/invoicing to other countries might incur different VAT rates. Before selling/invoicing internationally you should contact your local Tax Administration office and confirm the right VAT rate for your products. For merchants based in:

2. We accept card payments worldwide, excluding high-risk and non-cooperative jurisdictions as listed in our Acceptable Use Policy (see number 30). This list is based on Financial Action Task Force’s(FATF) recommendations.

3. Occasionally you might have some clients who have trouble in making international purchases. Some card issuers/banks have limited the geographies that customers can make purchases from for security reasons. This could be an issue with Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode (depending on the card type). In this case it is best to instruct the customer to contact the bank that issued the card and check for limitations. If the purchase can’t be made, you can invoice the customer so that the payment can be made with a SEPA Credit Transfer.

19. Holvi and international invoicing

With Holvi you can invoice international customers as well. Before doing so, consider the following:

1. Selling/invoicing to other countries might imply different VAT rates. Before selling/invoicing internationally you should contact your local Tax Administration office and confirm the right VAT rate for your products. For merchants based in:

2. We advise our customers to use a reference number for payments, so that the payment gets matched automatically to the correct invoice. So including a friendly reminder to use the reference number is recommended. If a payment arrives to Holvi without a reference number, it will arrive to the correct account but has to manually matched to the corresponding invoice.

3. If the invoiced amount includes VAT 0%, please mention the proof for it in the invoice description field for clarification.

See the below example for a VAT 0% description:

January consultancy services in Vienna (1.01.2014-31.01.2014)  *VAT 0%.

*VAT 0% Place of service Vienna in compliance with ACT 1501/1993 Finnish VAT legislation (European Council Directive 2006/112 art. 56) and VAT reverse charge mechanism to apply by client (according to art. 196 European Council directive 2006/112).

Always before selling/invoicing internationally you should contact your local Tax Administration office and confirm the right VAT rate for your products. For merchants based in Finland, we advise contacting The Finnish Tax Administration for more info.

4. International payments always take more time than local payments.

If your client is paying from the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Norway or Switzerland it takes 2-3 banking days to arrive to your Holvi account. If the payment was made before your client’s bank’s daily transfer processing (usually in the afternoon) the estimated time is 2 days, and 3 days if it was after.

Payments arriving from outside EU countries will take up to 7 banking days to arrive to your Holvi account.

20. I'm an international customer and can't make a credit card purchase in the Holvi online store. What do I do?

Some card issuers/banks have limited the geographies that customers can make purchases from for security reasons. This could be an issue with Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode (depending on your card type).

On our end (Holvi) we accept Visa and MasterCard globally, but it might be that your bank considers the domicile of the Holvi merchant account (Finland) as suspicious. Have you checked that you don't have limitations set on your card?

If you need any further assistance please contact support@holvi.com.
