Currency conversion in a nutshell
Currency conversion happens automatically when you send or receive a payment in a currency that does not match your Holvi account's base currency. When a currency mismatch occurs (e.g., your account is in EUR and you receive a payment in USD), Holvi will perform the necessary currency conversion on your behalf.
Holvi also gives you the flexibility to convert currencies between two of your own Holvi accounts. This allows you to actively perform currency conversion between your own business accounts.
Service hours
International transfers are processed on banking days. Unlike standard transfers, the ability to convert currencies between your own Holvi accounts is available to you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. You can move currencies between your accounts instantly, even during off-market hours, weekends, or public holidays.
Service fees
When you send or receive money in a foreign currency, or when you move currencies between your own Holvi accounts, we convert it using a live exchange rate. This rate includes a markup, which helps us cover our costs and the risk of currency fluctuation.
The markup percentage is determined by your Holvi plan. For current fees and further information, please refer to our Fee schedules (‘Foreign exchange fee for Payment Account transfers’).
