You can customise your bookkeeping in Holvi to suit your business needs by creating your own bookkeeping categories or deleting unnecessary ones. This article provides instructions for both actions.
Creating a bookkeeping category
- Log in to Holvi using a browser (Holvi.com).
- From the main menu, select Bookkeeping > Categories.
- Click New category.
- Name the category and select an appropriate group for it.
💡 Tip: Grouping categories is important for reporting purposes. For example, if you create a category called Holiday expenses, save it under the group Personal expenses. This way, your personal purchases will not distort your company’s profit and loss statement or VAT reports.
Deleting a bookkeeping category
Deleting a category is done via a slightly different route than creating one. Please follow these instructions carefully:
- Log in to Holvi using a browser.
- Go to Bookkeeping > Income & Expenses.
- Click the name of the category you want to delete.
- Select Delete from the top right corner of the page.
Important to note when deleting categories:
- Correct route: You can only delete a category via the Income & Expenses view. The delete button is not visible on the Categories page.
- Only empty categories can be deleted: If a category contains transactions, it cannot be deleted. You must first transfer the transactions to another category before deleting the category.
