QR codes are a convenient way to manage items like event tickets, gift cards, or other redeemable products in your online store. When a customer purchases a product in your online store configured to generate QR codes, they’ll receive a unique code that you can easily verify at the point of sale or entry.
How to enable QR codes for a product
For the system to automatically generate a QR code for a purchased product in your online store, you must activate the setting individually for each desired item.
- In your Holvi account, navigate to Online Store > Items.
- Click Add item, or click on the existing product for which you want to enable QR codes
- If it’s an existing product, select Options > Edit on the product page.
- Under Media > QR code, tick “Add QR code and separate item receipts”.
- Save your changes.
Once this setting is enabled, a unique QR code will be automatically generated for each unit of this product sold.
How will the customer receive the QR code?
After a customer purchases a product with the QR code function activated, your customer will receive a separate PDF attachment containing the QR code, alongside the order confirmation and receipt.
💡 Good to know
Each generated QR code contains a unique numerical sequence that links it to a specific order.
The customer can present the QR code directly from their phone screen or from a printed version of the PDF. Any smartphone camera or QR code reader app can be used to scan it.
How to verify and manage QR codes
You can easily check and validate the QR codes presented by customers by comparing the numerical sequence in the code to your online store's order list.
To find the generated codes:
- Navigate to Online Store > Items.
- Select the product whose orders you wish to review.
- From the Options menu, click View orders.
- Click Export to Excel in the top left corner of the page that opens.
The exported Excel file will contain an Order code column listing all the numerical sequences corresponding to the QR codes for the sold items. When a customer presents their QR code, simply scan it with your phone and compare the resulting number with the information in your Excel sheet to confirm the order's validity.
