Managing recurring software, ads and vendor payments gets messy - especially when team members change or bookkeeping rolls around
With subscription cards, you can dedicate virtual cards (debit or credit) exclusively to these costs. This keeps subscription spending separate from everyday expenses, protects your account and ensures your critical tools never go offline.
Flexibility your way: Set up one card per vendor (e.g., Meta Ads or Adobe) or use one card for all your subscriptions. The choice is yours.
How to create a subscription card
Setting up a new card takes less than a minute and it is ready to use immediately.
- Log in to your Holvi account and navigate to Cards.
- Click Set up a card for subscriptions (alongside your options for personal or team cards).
- Choose whether you want a debit or credit virtual card.
- Give your card a clear name or label (e.g., "Adobe", "Marketing Tools").
- Choose a default accounting category to pre-tag future transactions.
- Assign an existing team member as the cardholder.
- Confirm. Your virtual card is ready to be copied and pasted into your vendor's billing settings!
Reassigning a card to a new team member
If the person currently managing a subscription leaves your team or changes roles, you don’t need to cancel the card and update your payment details across dozens of websites. You can simply reassign the card management.
Important details to note:
- Zero interruption: The card number (PAN), expiry date and CVV code remain exactly the same. Your subscriptions will continue charging seamlessly.
- SCA compliance: Due to Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) regulations, every card must be tied to a real, named person who can approve online payments via their Holvi app. You cannot name a card after a company (e.g., "Marketing Dept").
- The golden rule: The new person must already be added to your Holvi company account as a user (Admin or Editor) before you can reassign the card to them. You cannot invite a brand-new user during the reassignment flow.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
How much do subscription cards cost?
There is no extra cost! Subscription cards are regular virtual cards wrapped in a smarter management layout. They are included in your current plan pricing.
Does the card automatically detect my subscriptions?
No. The card functions as a dedicated payment method that you control. It won't automatically scan for or cancel subscriptions on its own—you decide which vendors are paid with which card.
Can I set spending limits on these cards?
Yes, just like standard Holvi virtual cards, you can adjust the spend limits on your subscription cards at any time to ensure vendors never charge more than expected.
