Your Holvi account is getting an Austrian IBAN
From 1 December 2026, Holvi business accounts in Austria are served by our Austrian branch in Vienna, and you'll get an Austrian IBAN. There's nothing you need to do before then.
Important dates
| Date | What happens |
| 1 October 2026 | We let you know, two months ahead |
| 30 November 2026 | Last day to object to the change |
| 1 December 2026 | Your business account is served by our Austrian branch, and your AT IBAN goes live |
| 1 December 2026 to 1 March 2027 | Your window to share the new IBAN and move direct debits across. Both IBANs work |
| 1 March 2027 | Your Finnish IBAN is removed |
| Within 3 months of 1 December | We ask you to confirm your identity |
What's actually changing?
You're getting a second IBAN for the account you already have. Same payment account, same balance, same history. From 1 December it's served by Holvi Payment Services Oy – Zweigniederlassung Österreich in Vienna rather than our Finnish head office, and it gets an IBAN starting with AT.
An Austrian IBAN can make it easier to manage payments and direct debits with Austrian business partners, authorities and other organisations.
Am I affected?
If you opened your Holvi account before 1 October 2026 and it has a Finnish IBAN, yes. If you joined Holvi from 1 October 2026, you already have an Austrian IBAN and nothing changes for you.
Do I need to do anything?
Not before 1 December. The switch happens automatically. From 1 December you'll have three months to share your new IBAN with anyone who pays you and to move any direct debits across. Both IBANs work during that time, so you can do it without interrupting any payments.
When do I get my new IBAN?
On 1 December. It appears in your Holvi account that day, and we'll email you as soon as it's there.
What happens to payments sent to my old Finnish IBAN?
They still reach you until 1 March 2027. Your Finnish IBAN stays linked to the same account and keeps receiving incoming payments, so invoices you've already issued can still be paid and anyone who hasn't updated your details yet can still send you money.
After 1 March 2027 your Finnish IBAN is removed, and payments sent to it are returned to the sender.
What about direct debits collected from my account?
Direct debits already set up on your Finnish IBAN keep working. You don't need to do anything on 1 December. The only difference you'll notice is that your new AT IBAN shows as the sender.
They stop working when your Finnish IBAN is removed on 1 March 2027, so use the three months to give your new IBAN to everyone who collects from you: landlord, insurers, leasing, energy and phone contracts, subscriptions. Some companies need a few weeks to process a mandate change, so it's worth not leaving it to the end.
What about standing orders and scheduled payments I've set up?
They carry on. From 1 December they're sent from your new AT IBAN automatically, including anything you scheduled before the switch. There's nothing to set up again.
What about my cards?
Nothing changes. Your cards are linked to your payment account rather than to an IBAN, so they keep working exactly as they do now. Nothing to reorder, nothing to activate.
Do my terms change?
The terms themselves stay the same. Our Austrian branch becomes your contracting party in place of our Finnish head office, so we've updated the Terms of Service to include the branch, its contact details and the competent supervisory authority. Everything else is unchanged.
Because this is a change to your agreement with us, we let you know two months ahead. If you don't object by 30 November 2026, the change is treated as accepted.
Who do I need to tell about my new IBAN?
Anyone who sends you money or collects from you. We'll send you a full checklist on 1 December. The short version:
- Finanzamt, via FinanzOnline
- SVS and ÖGK
- Your payroll provider and your Steuerberater
- Your customers, and your invoice templates
- Anyone holding a direct debit mandate: landlord, insurers, leasing, energy, phone
- Payment providers such as Stripe, PayPal or Klarna
Why do you need to check my identity again?
Once your account is served by our Austrian branch it falls under Austrian rules, and part of that is a routine review of the information we hold on you. Within three months of the switch we'll ask you to confirm your identity again. It takes a few minutes on your phone.
It isn't a condition for your IBAN switching on 1 December, and your account works normally throughout. You may also be asked about the source of your funds as part of that review. We'll be in touch separately when it's your turn.
